Basics

Sabin Rene Figaro, Edgar’s younger twin brother, is first introduced at Mt. Koltz when he defeats Vargas and joins the party. Terra describes him as a bodybuilder, and Sabin hesitantly takes it as a compliment. Unlike Edgar, Sabin has a humility about him, and he doesn’t try hitting on Terra.

The story of Final Fantasy VI doesn’t directly affect Sabin; he’s simply along for the ride, but a useful rider he is. A martial arts expert, Sabin is one of the strongest characters in the game. He uses blitzes taught to him from ten years that he spent with a martial arts trainer named Duncan, and he learns his own moves as he goes along. Equipped with the right items, if you use his blitzes correctly Sabin has the potential to be the strongest character in the game. But, contrary to popular opinion, his strength isn’t all that’s good about Sabin.

Sabin is funny, he’s smart, he’s caring, and he has a sense of responsibility.

With that in mind, it’s what’s in Sabin’s back story that makes Sabin an important character. A turn of events brought Sabin’s fate to rest on a coin toss, and with its decision he went wandering on the outskirts of Figaro for ten long years.

When his brother and kingdom got in trouble, though, Sabin was quick to join the Returners and fight for what was important to him.
