Admiration
One of the more complex and important relationships in the game is Sabin and Edgar’s. Sabin respects Edgar, but more than that Sabin looks up to him and trusts Edgar with his life. Edgar takes care of Sabin, and it’s kind of sweet in a brotherly way.
This may or may not come as a shocker to you: Sabin is indecisive. It’s a good thing that Edgar doesn’t mind making decisions for him. On the night of their father’s death, Edgar not only stayed strong and comforted his little brother, but made a life-changing decision for him to make Sabin happy. He flipped a double-headed coin telling Sabin if it landed on heads he could have what he wanted: his freedom. I guess you could argue that Edgar deceived Sabin to do what was best for Figaro, but I think he actually did it FOR him. It wasn’t deception at all; it was an act of love.
Sabin loved his brother for it, and throughout the game he sticks with his brother’s decisions saying “I’m going to have to go with Edgar on this,” or something similar. He doesn’t doubt his brother one bit, and tries to get others to put their trust in Edgar as well.
The only thing I can add is that you can trust my brother implicitly. He’s always been fair with me. You can trust him, Terra... But don’t you DARE tell him I said that!
As I’ve said before, Edgar is Sabin’s rock, and though he won’t let Edgar see his weaknesses, Edgar is the reason he is strong.
Edgar is all Sabin has and vice versa, and they actually realize it. It’s how they’re able to unite and fight for Figaro. I doubt either one of them would have done it without the other.
